Learning Plan for March 31-April 3

Hello students,
All of your parents were emailed a letter stating that you would be given assignments and instruction online. The government of Alberta wants grade 7s to spend 2 hours a day, Monday to Friday, learning and doing assignments. You will need to spend 1/2 hour on social studies, 1/2 hour on language arts, 1/2 hour on math and 1/2 hour on science. You can break it up and do it at any time during the day or evening.
Please visit the blogs for all of your assignments and instructions. I hope you do this work and don't argue with your parents about it. I know it stinks but you must be prepared for grade 8. A little suffering now will make grade 8 much easier.

Assignments:

RR4 Visuals: Many students started their visuals in their journals. Unfortunately, we don't have access to the journals. Please make a new visual to use for a grade. Use whatever supplies you have at home. If you did your visual in our journal and absolutely love it, I can grade it later but you must email me to let me know.
If you don't have art supplies just make a detailed pencil or pen drawing, collage, photo of you dressed as a character, toys set up like a scene from the book (cringy but funny), photoshop drawing, etc. You can choose an alternate project to a drawing/painting/sculpture if you like. Remember it must demonstrate your Retell.
Photograph and email it to me by Monday.

Social Studies: Work on your Silent Film historical research. Email me with questions you may have. Write detailed, long answers in complete sentences and paragraphs. See yesterday's blog for more information and March 9 blog for google links. Your doc should be titled:
7-1-SF-Name
7-2-SF-Name
7-4-SF-Name

Social Studies research for Silent Films:
Unfortunately my plans for Silent Film have been derailed. I have thought about how to proceed and have decided I would like all of you to finish the research for your assigned topic. It's all online research now, so use Canadian Encyclopedia online and google your questions. Read, think and explain your answers in detail. Do not copy and paste, please oh please, never copy and paste. You don't learn when you don't think.
Why should you finish? The lesson learned is that Canadians face hardship and adversity throughout history and they overcame extreme suffering. We are living in a tough time right now and we will overcome it.
Your research gives you knowledge of Canadian history. The grade 7 curriculum requires you to learn it.
Don't worry I am planning a variety of fun choices for a film substitute and I'll be willing to take your ideas!

Everyone is responsible for their own research within their group topic. This research is a large portion of their unit, and may require some work at home. Please be prepared to use your class time effectively.
