Weekly Plan for June 15-19
Hello students!
Guess what? Only 2 more weeks of online school!!! You've almost finished grade7! Hip Hip Hooray for you! We teachers are so proud of your hard work. You've demonstrated great responsibility, determination, perseverance and maturity in keeping up with your studies. Online schooling has been frustrating at times but you have learned new independent learning and technology skills.
Perseverance means you keep trying do do something, even though it is very hard. This is a valuable characteristic to have. It will take you far in life. Thank you all for persevering through online school and doing your work. I know it was hard. I know it was unfair. I also know that perseverance is a quality you have to develop inside yourself, no one can give it to you. You have to give it to yourself. All of your teachers are proud of you for persevering in your studies.
Okay, life lesson is finished for now. There is only 1 assignment due this week. RR5 is due Wednesday. Reading Response 5 includes both writing and visual. Please demonstrate your best writing and thinking skills. If you have forgotten the format, look at earlier RR5 posts, or the blog Resources, or review your previous RRs in your docs.
Friday we will have another Video Party. Email Ms. Brown at aibrown@cbe.ab.ca if you would like to have your video shown. Party 1 was awesome!! No one from 7-1 participated :( but 7-4 and 7-2 did. Thanks to F., A., E. and S. for showing your videos!!
Have a good week!

Please go to Google Classroom and watch the 2 short videos. They explain uploading your video onto Google Classroom. It's not hard, you can do it. (Probably easier and faster than your parents.)

Weekly Plan for June 1-5
Hello everyone!
Happy June! Can you believe we made it to June? Grade 7 is almost over, but not yet. You have just a few more things to do. You can do it!
This week we're wrapping up the video and preparing for next week's reading response. If you missed a week or 2, read all the posts you missed. READ the Video Time Capsule assignment posted under Google Classwork. Carefully re-reading an assignment helps your brain figure it out.
You have 3 assignments this week:
1. Filming and Editing your Video Time Capsule assignment. Film, add music, edit, add text and proof read. I'll let you know how to upload and send it Wednesday.
2. Reading in preparation for RR5. RR5 book must be finished by June 10 (next Wednesday); writing and art piece are due June 17. Daily reading will help you keep your skills as you go onto grade 8.
3. Write at least 1 Covid-19 Journal entry. Pick a prompt you like.
Good luck filming! If you work everyday, it will be less stressful then leaving it to the last minute.

Weekly Plan for May 25 - 29 Go to Google Classroom, please.
Hello everyone!
This week you are going to READ the Video Time Capsule assignment posted under Classwork in Google Classroom. You may have to add to your storyboard if it is not detailed enough or if you have left anything out.
You have 3 assignments this week:
1. Filming your Video Time Capsule assignment. Your goal is to film 1 scene a day. Look at your storyboard and pick a scene to film. You can film more but if you rush and don't include the items on the checklist (posted under Classwork) your video will be too simple.
2. Reading in preparation for RR5. Daily reading will help you keep your skills as you go onto grade 8.
3. Journaling through Covid-19.
Enjoy the sunshine and good luck filming!

Monday, May 4, 2020
May 4 - May 8 Learning Plan
All directions are also posted on Google Classroom. This week you have 1 new assignment and 2 old assignments.

2. Covid Journaling: another entry due Friday.
3. Reading Response 5: not due until June 10. Enjoy reading your book!
Time Capsule Video proposal instructions.
You will be creating a Covid-19 Time Capsule Video.
Like discussed with our journals, we are living through a historical time. Using your journal entries and your life experience, you will be creating a 3-4 minute Time Capsule Video. To create a time capsule, you will need to complete a series of mini-lessons and assignments before you can start filming. Friday is your first video lesson, so don't start filming yet!
The first part of this project is your video proposal.
Write 1-2 paragraphs (5-7 sentences) describing what your Covid-19 Time Capsule Video will look like and what you will include.
Include details such as:
Which entries will you use from your journal?
If you plan on using something other than your journal, what would that be?
Will your time capsule have a story or narrative element? (Are you turning your journals into a story about you and your experience? Or a story about a typical teen during this time?)
Will there be other people in your video?
What will you be using to film your video?
What software do you have to create your video?
What makes your time capsule video interesting?
Think about your audience; what would they like to see in a time capsule?
Submit your proposal by Thursday May 7th.

Super Fun Journal Twist
Journaling Twist: (Optional Twist)
A self-portrait entry! What if you drew your your face for an entry or multiple entries? Would that be fun? What emotions would your face express?
Hmmm, sounds like fun or torture? If it's torture, you can always keep writing.

April 20-24 Learning Plan
This week there are 2 assignments: Journaling and an Infographic. Both are due in 2 weeks. You have lots of time to complete them. Use my plan below to help guide your progress.
Social Studies Big Plan: Due May 1
You have 2 weeks to create an infographic for a Silent Film topic you are interested in but didn't get a chance to research. This time create a fun infographic to show the facts of the topic. Google infographics and see how they are a mix of pictures and words.
All topics can be found in the following folder:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/11AEdTQVoiFPjo84kHSf_3mqMkh_c1aMo?usp=sharing
Choose one topic and, using the topic sheet provided, create an infographic that shows the important information and dates. If you want to research more, you may do so! An infographic is a visual way of organizing and showing information. It has minimal text and is focused on the visual. You may create this infographic on paper or digitally (GoogleDraw, Google Docs, Sketchpad, etc.). Please submit your assignment on Google Classroom.
Daily Plan for this Week:
Monday: Social Studies: read the assignment. Think about it. If you are not sure what to do read it again, slowly and carefully.
Click on the google link. Look at the topics. Read about 1/2 of the topic information pages.
* L.A. journal assignment or reading a book.

Journaling Assignment: Due May 1
Right now you are living in a historical event. One day you will tell your children about it, maybe even your
grandchildren. They will read about it in a textbook. Imagine if you actually had a journal of your experience
during the Covid-19 pandemic that you could give to them. What insights could a journal give them that a
textbook can’t?
grandchildren. They will read about it in a textbook. Imagine if you actually had a journal of your experience
during the Covid-19 pandemic that you could give to them. What insights could a journal give them that a
textbook can’t?
Journaling is writing down your experiences, thoughts and feelings. Journaling can help you remind yourself
of the good things present in your life. Remembering what’s deeply important to you and what you’re grateful
for, is calming and reassuring. Journaling is proven to reduce anxious feelings.
